Nance’s Writers Thesaurus offers a monthly short fiction writing contest.
Entry Fee: Free
Deadline: Entries must be submitted online by midnight Pacific 30th of each month.
Winner Announced: 15th of following month
Word Count: 500-750 words
April Theme: The Secret to living well and longer is: Eat half. Walk Double. Laugh triple, and love without measure. Tibetian Proverb
Additional requirement: In addition to loosely basing the story on the above theme, the contest entrant must use ten (10) Descriptions and Equivalents (D&E’s) from writersthesaurus.com in their story. More D&E’s can be used but no extra consideration will be given past the first ten. Tense, quantity, and gender changes are allowed. Please underline the ten D&E’s.
The winning entry will be picked based upon originality and quality. It will be posted online.
All writers are welcome. One submission per writer per month. Stories must be original, unpublished and in English.
NOTE: Contest entrants are required to post a link back to the site writersthesaurus.com on their own site.
